Reliance Net Connect Wireless Broadband Review

June 9th, 2009 | 17 Comments | Posted in Broadband Check, Reviews Check

I finally purchased a Reliance Net Connect USB Modem After Comparing all the Wireless Internet Providers in India.

Reliance Net Connect Covers almost all the parts of India. Giving you a Speed of 3.1 Mbps in 35 major Cities and around 144kbps in rest of the 4.5 lac villages throughout India.

After doing a Speed Test at 9:40 Pm I got 1.47Mbps Download and 0.42Mbps of Upload Speed. Which is quite impressive, I mean you are using a wireless connection, what else can you ask for?

As of Now (June 2009) , the Cost of the device is Rs 3500/-  Which is a Plug and Play USB Modem and it has a Micro SD slot also.

Right now Reliance is providing three models,

Huawei EC 1260
Cost Rs.3500/-

Huawei EC 168 C
Cost Rs.3500/-

ZTE AC871
Cost Rs.3500/-

I also tried downloading files and watched YouTube videos.

I was able to download 8Mb file with in a minute and there were no pauses in Videos.

It was a wonderful experience after using Airtel Mobile office from my Phone which gave me speeds of 200 kbps.

As far as the Customer Support  is concerned, It was activated with in 24 hours. and the installation was way too easy. Its really just plug and play, However, you need to connect internet via dialer. I have heard that its very tough to contact their call center, but if you call them at night, there is a possibility to get connected to them.

Here is a look of the dialer.

One more concern is the data usage, as there is no unlimited usage plan yet. you need to keep the track of the data usage, so that you don’t get over charged by them.

I’ll suggest you do Download any free firewall (Such as Sygate Personal Firewall)and allow only important applications to connect to internet. There are many applications which keep download the data secretly. This will somehow reduce your data usage.

Call the Customer Care or go talk to local Reliance dealer from where you bought it! It depends on the demand of the device.

Since 10 days its not working..they promise 3.1 mbps however when u connect its not more than 250 kbps & to top it up the customer care is so so pathetic that you wonder why reliance is doing business if they cant service existing customers.

I called the customer service # about 100 times and they have no resolution!

    Damn guys….
since 10 days its not working..they promise 3.1 mbps but when you connect its not even more than 250kbps!  doing business if they cant service existing customers.

I had applied for Reliance Netconnect Data card on their website in first week of August, 09.
The company followed an unethical business practice by giving my details to a dealer from Noida-Vriti.com, who is far away from my city Mumbai, when there are enough dealers in Mumbai.
The dealer contacted me through their local representative on 11/08/09 and sold me the data card by giving misinformation that there was free upload and download for first month. He never informed me that their billing cycle was starting from 22nd of every month.
My data card was activated on 13/08/09.Suddenly on 25/08/09 my connection stopped working. On contacting their customer care I was informed that I have over used the net hence unless I pay Rs.9543/= my connection will not be re-activated. I refused to pay the said amount and informed them that I was misinformed by their dealer but they were not ready to accept it.
Ultimately they sent me a legal notice on 30/01/10 which I refused to accept.
Dear subscribers please do not book your data card online. Avoid Reliance Netconnect.Read fine print if you still wish to go for it. Go for prepaid connection to avoid hefty bill.

Please do not go 4 reliance net connect.
I promise you will regret it.

I am getting download speed of 1.4 kbps(YES THAT’S RIGHT ONE POINT FOUR KBPS ) speed.
Even Dial up is faster than this

    Customer care is fuck all.

I have told customer care that if this continues then I will unsubscribe the connection and i am not going to pay any rent this month.

I too upgraded to Reliance Netconnect Broadband+ yesterday. The dealer said it will get activated in 2 hours. I checked after 3 hours and the data card was activated. The speeds are also good (went upto 400 kbps). I don’t see any problem and definitely shall recommend this product as the coverage of Reliance is wide and its really convenient when on move.
