The Social Networking Giant Facebook has eventually managed to over take Yahoo, to become the second most popular website in the United States. Interestingly, it is not the first time that Yahoo is facing down fall. In 2008, it dropped from the top position to the 2nd while Google raised to the top. Now this year, its Facebook which has overtaken Yahoo.

Visitor Overview:
Google leads the list by a whopping 147 million unique visitors.
Yahoo had 132 million unique visitors in January 2010
Facebook has just over taken Yahoo by having 133 million unique visitors.
Twitter on the other hand has just 22 million unique visitors.

According to the stats, users are most engaged in Facebook spending 11% of their online time. Yahoo stands second with 4.75% while surprisingly Google is third with 4%.

It will be interesting to note whether Facebook can retain this growth over the future or will Yahoo bounce back? Twitter is also growing at a exponential rate in terms of time spent online. Facebook would be looking forward for the challenge ahead – that is to beat Google. Can they?
